Doodle Love

Happy Tuesday!
I'm a bit late on this post for our new challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown.  I've been on a small camping vacation this past weekend and it's taking me a little bit to get back adjusted and into my groove :)
This week our challenge is doodling!  Now...for my card I didn't want to just do little stitching around the edge like I do on so many of my cards.  I wanted to really pull out the doodling.  This card took me awhile to work out in my head, and while it doesn't have very many elements, it took quite a bit of time to complete :)
I need some practice with my doodling...but over all I love it!  I wanted to keep a simple black and white and add in a little pop of color.  This adorable image is Sweating You from Saturated Canary.  A bit of the image has been cut out to fit in the small circle.  I colored her all in with my pencils and then added some glitter to the hearts, her sweat drop, and her hair.  Then put some clear gems around the scallop frame that was cut from my Lacy Labels cartridge.

Around the doodling I added some blue gel pen dots to help pull that blue into the rest of the card.

Like I said...my doodling could use some work...and maybe a different style would have been better for this card...but I love it just the same :)
Be sure to stop by and play along with us!  Or just check out the DT's fabulous work!

A Piece of Paradise

Happy Tuesday!
Today starts a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!  This week our challenge is "Tropical Paradise!"  I can feel the warm sun on my face, the sand in my toes, and the waves crashing on the shore!  Ugh...I need a tropical vacation :)

So here is my card for this week:
Isn't that a fabulous image!?  Our wonderful sponsor this week is Meljen's Designs and they always have adorable images!  I've used Scuba Bear for my card, colored him in with my colored pencils with a few tiny blue dots on the bubbles.

The frames are cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  When I cut the main frame out, as I was looking at it, an idea popped into my head.  The wavy outline reminded me of shells, so I decided to try drawing in little clam shells with pearls in the centers.  I busted out my new copics sketch set that has several really light shades of pink and started drawing.  It took some practice, but I absolutely love it!  It really helps give it that tropical feel.  On the orange frame, I added some white paint dots and then sprinkled some tiny beads over top so they had a bubble/shimmer look.

Then I just cut some flags and added some stitching around a few things.  Typed up and printed off the sentiment, then cut it into a tag shape, added an eyelet and tied some cord around one of the loops in the shell frame.

There aren't many details to the card, but I wanted the focus to be the image and it's frame.  Here's a closer look:

Snowmen

Back again for a quick post for my first Christmas card of the year!!  Even with the nasty heat we had last week, for some reason I have been dreaming of fall/Christmas cards.  So I decided to break down and make one today.
When I saw the sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketches, the idea just popped into my head.  And wouldn't you know, it came together just perfectly!
How cute!!!  I just love this little snowman family image from Dilly Bean.  I believe it was a freebie last year.  It's just so cute.  Everything on this card is pretty straight forward.  I colored in the image with my colored pencils (like always :) ).  The only difference this time is I finally used some of the Copics Sketch markers I won from Frosted Designs a few weeks back!  I've been scared to use them because I'm not exactly a Copics expert..but I love seeing cards that have the little blue line around the image highlighting it.  And I thought that would look so cute with snowmen, so I gave it a shot!
Whatcha think?  Can you see it in there?  It's more noticeable on the far left snowman's head...I think my lamp or flash washed out the rest of it.  I'll need some practice to steady my hand a bit, but I think it turned out cute.

The blue panel behind the ribbon is embossed with a snowflakes folder, though it's mostly hidden.  For the large snowflakes, I took one of the cut files that I already had of a snowflake, and altered it to have a ribbon bracket in the middle!  I love it!  I covered both layers in glitter and then slid the blue ribbon through the bracket and layered it on some white ribbon!  How cool is that?

Then I just cut out a small tag for my stamped sentiment and tucked it behind the image!  I probably could add some glitter to the snowmen, but I like them just fine without :)

Girly Birthday

Happy Friday Loves!!!
It's been such a nice week!  The weather has been perfect!  I've been able to sit in my craft room and just play.  Vacation next week is coming very quickly and I can't wait!  But...I have been having non-stop allergy attacks!!  Ugh!!  Not sure what is going on, but it is super annoying.

So in between periods of manic sneezing, I was able to get this cutesy card made.
I thought the color combo on this card was pretty neat!  I never would have thought to use blue, pink and grey together but they really work!  Seems I have been using pink a lot in my cards...not sure why.  It's just been my go-to color lately.

The sweet image is Celeste Amberglow-Celebrate from Pollycraft Designs.  She was one of the last images added to the store before she closed shop, so I made sure to snag her up :)
I've colored her in with colored pencils and added some glitter details around her dress and the stars.
The little blue and the darker grey scallop circles are cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I embossed the grey with the Swiss Dots folder to give it some dimension behind Celeste.  The large decorated scallop circle is a cut from Birds Cards.
The rest of the details are pretty simple.  I used my scallop scissors for the top and bottom grey borders, and made flags from the pink paper.  Then used blue and white gel pens to add stitching/dot detailing around some of the elements.

Added some blue ribbon and bow and it was done :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Mojo Monday Sketch  #250
    Bearly Mine #44-Girly Birthday Card
    Digital Tuesday #169-All Tied Up

Thankful For You

I'm back!!!
It was soooooo nice to get back into my craft room and let the creative juices flow!  So. Much. Fun!
I just love the way my card turned out today.  It's so adorable!
This sweet image is Jules from Saturated Canary who was a freebie Monday and Tuesday!  Isn't she darling??  I LOVE that she has a cute little kitty in her arms.  It is no secret.  I love kitties!  Can't get enough of them!  I'd take every one of them home with me if I could...but that isn't feasible for me...so I have to stick with my 3 :)

It seems when I start planning cards, and decide to add flowers, I always get the idea that I'm going to load them on and have this huge spread...but in the end it always seems to be just 1.  Not sure why that happens :)  I cut this flower out with my cricut with 2 staggered layers that I embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.  I love the texture and uniqueness it gives the flower.  Then I cut out a spiral rose, added glitter (which ended up all over me :) ) and quilled it up for the center.  I punched out 3 different types of foliage in 3 different shades of green and layered them all together.
The sentiment is from Desert Diva, printed, cut into a tag shape and then inked around the edge in pink.  I've inked all the edges of the papers with either pink or green.
I love how the 3 patterned papers coordinate so well together!

For my image, I colored her in carefully with my colored pencils.  I didn't add anything extra to the image...shock!  I did think of adding glitter, but she's just so adorable on her own that I didn't think she needed it :)
The finishing touches were a swirl and corner rounds cut with my cricut, and pink and clear gems in 3 different sizes added to the swirl, corner rounds, and upper right corner to help tie that all in together.

What do you think?  I'm so glad I have this image!  She just makes me smile every time I look at her!  And to help fuel my Saturated Canary addiction, I picked up another 10 images during her sale this past weekend!  Oh boy...!

Life's a Beach

Aaahhh...rain!  Not that it cleared the stickyness out of the air, but I no longer feel like I'm going to melt into a pile on the floor just by sitting at my computer :)  I will enjoy it while it's here, and I think my kitties are happy for the relief too.

So I'm back today with our new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!!  This week we are challenging you to use a clear element on your creation!  This could be a very fun challenge!  I ran into a snag when coming up with my card plan because originally I didn't think I had anything clear to use.  But as I searched, and dug, and poured things out of drawers, magically I found some!!  Woohoo!
I used the clear element as my card base and built on top of it.  Our fabulous sponsor this week is Inked Treasures.  They have provided the team with some absolutely adorable images to use that are perfect for summer projects!  I have used Beach Bella, isn't she just darling?  I colored her in with my colored pencils and added some glossy accents to her stylin sun glasses.  Then mounted her on a die cut scallop frame with purple paint dot accents around the outside.

I cut out 2 layers for the star, glued them together and inked the edges in purple.  Then I cut out 3 circles in the transparency, lined them up with the star and punched holes in them all to represent a button.  Strung some thin purple ribbon through the holes and cut some small tails.  Then inked around the edges of my printed sentiment and stuck it all down!

I wanted a little more stability at the top of the card so I cut a 1 inch strip and scallop cut one side.  Then scored it down the middle and straddled it over the top fold.  Added another strip of ribbon and some clear gems and that was it!

I hope you will join us this week!  Be sure to swing by Tuesday Throwdown and check out all the other wonderful creations the Design Team has come up with!
We are also having a Design Team call until July 29th so be sure to check out all the information for that in the DT Post.

Watermelon

Well...now even the crickets are bored :)
I promise I will be back soon!  Invites are almost done and then I can resume my card obsession!

But since it is Tuesday, that means a new challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown!  Woot woot!  This week we are challenging you to use hot colors.  What are hot colors to you?  I think of the brights-orange, yellow, red.  But as you can see from some of the fabulous creations by the design team, bright pinks and greens are also in that mix.
So here is my "Hot Colors" card!  As I flipped through my cricut cartridges to find a good image to use, the watermelon on the Cheerful Seasons cartridge just really stuck in my mind.  So I went with that.  I cut out a scalloped edge for the orange panel, and printed the sentiment to fit.

The red panel behind the watermelon is embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.  I used my new Spellbinders Ovals for the frame around the watermelon.  Then added some glossy accents to make the watermelon shine and look all yummy :)

Pretty simple card.
Be sure to stop by and play along this week!  We have a great prize to give away from Crop Stop who carries all sorts of wonderful crafting supplies!  You don't want to miss it!

We are also having a design team call until July 29!  If you are interested in being on our design team, be sure to check out the post for all the details!

Until later, thanks for stopping by!!

Summertime

Whoa...it's like crickets around here!  I can explain though :)  I have been spending a lot of time working on this wedding invitation order that has to get out in the mail in the next 2 weeks.  So...cards have not been a high priority for me, thus no blog posts :(

But I am back today with a quick post for our new Tuesday Throwdown challenge!!  This week is Anything Goes and our fabulous sponsor is Robyn's Fetish!
As I scanned through her images, one really caught my eye as being perfect for summer.
I loved the summery look of this image!  I can just imagine the cute little bear looking up at the clouds and making shapes out of them :)  The image is It's a Beary Nice Day, and I've colored it in with my colored pencils.
The scallop frame is cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge and I've inked all the edges with an orange color.
The sentiment is a recent one from Create with TLC.  I thought it was perfect for the image :)

And then!  My favorite part!  Check out the oval!!  I got my first ever Spellbinders Nestabilities in the mail last week!!!!  Oh *happy dance*! So of course I had to bust them open and use one on this card :)  I have been dreaming of having those forever and when I found a 50% off sale in the states, I begged some family to go out and purchase me a few :)
I finished off the card with some cord strung behind the image and wrapped around the flagged panel.  Then I made a few little bees with some heart punches and black paint :)  Added some glitter glue to all the wings and it was done!

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Crafts 4 Eternity #78-Bear Necessities
Totally Paper Crafts-Use a Digital Image
    Digi Design-Summertime
One Stitch at a Time #120-Use a Digital Image
    Paper Pretties-Summer Fun
