Tiddly Inks Love

I'm back again for a quick little post :)
I hope your Thursday continues to be well!

This card is simple but cute.
I love this Wryn image from Tiddly Inks!  It's so versatile and can be used for really any occasion.  And it's just so darn cute :)

I found this patterned paper deep in my stash...funny I always skipped over it because I thought it was a Christmas paper...huh!
I cut out the frame from my Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge and inked around the edge of the white with a red ink pad called port wine.  It doesn't scream red but has a more toned down pinkish burgundy so it goes with the rest of the papers perfectly!

Wryn is colored in with my colored pencils :)  I added some loose glitter to the wings and swirls at the bottom.  For the sentiment, I printed it twice and framed the middle wording of it with another label from Lacy Labels (also inked the edge of that one).
I made the buttons by gluing 5 layers of a heart punch together, used my eyelet tool to cut out the holes and then covered the top and sides with glossy accents.  Then I cut a few pieces of rope, strung them through and tied them in a bow behind the button.  I had trouble getting them to stay stuck to the paper, until I realized I have a few glue dots!!  Duh...so I cut one in half and pressed in onto the back of the button, then onto the paper!!  Tada!!  Perfect :)

Orchard Love

Happy Thursday to everyone!
This week has been a bit crazy...the weather here in Montreal has been all over the place...Tuesday we had this crazy storm, poured buckets!  And because of the sudden downpour the drains couldn't keep up or something and we had geysers coming from every drain in the house, including the toilet!  It was quite the experience...I'm glad my husband was home because I would have flipped!  I thought the whole apartment was going to be flooded!
Then the sun came out and it all went away...humid yesterday and rain again today...so weird...it rains while the sun is out.  I guess I got so used to Seattle where the sun was never out this time of year, especially when it rained :)

But that hasn't kept me from my work!  I've been busy finishing up the final details of the wedding invitation I'm working on.  Hopefully will get the proof out in the mail tomorrow for approval!!!  I'm so excited!  Yes, it will be a very large project...but hey...I love what I do :)

So, today's card is another Saturated Canary lovely!
This is Orchard Love from Saturated Canary.  She is so adorable!  I love picking apples.  We try to do that every year.  It was so much cheaper in WA to go out to the orchards and pick the apples ourselves, and we had fun doing it!  It's still fun here...but not cheaper :(

I colored her in with my colored pencils.  I'm not too fond of how her outfit turned out...I didn't think through that color job very well...but the rest of her I love!  I've really been working on skin and hair coloring.  I need a lot more practice with skin...just can't seem to get that to look right...but hair!  I think I'm getting pretty darn good at :)  At least as good as I can get using plain colored pencils :)
The large red flower is cut from the Cricut Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge.  The others are my rolled roses.  I left all of them pretty much alone.  I didn't add any sparkle (*gasp*)!  I just liked how it all looked without the glitter :)
Behind the flowers is a white doily I created and cut with my cricut, along with leaf branches and some blue swirl flourishes.

The last element I added on the front was a bead charm!  I wanted to try something different from a normal pin, and since I have a lot of my bead stuff now, I decided on a "charm" style decoration.
I love it!  It's simple but adds just enough extra detail to not feel like the flowers are drowning the card!

Tiny Blessings

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I hope you are all well.
Today's card is a little bit different style than what I normally do.
I tend to stay away from fun folds on cards.  I'm always afraid I will do them wrong or they will look completely retarded...so I just don't do them.  But I wanted to try.

I followed the sketch at Sunday Sketch and Stamp.  It turned out pretty good.  I didn't want it to be gender specific so I went with green and purple, but the purple took over a little more than planned.  I cut the frame out from the Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge and embossed the green layer with the Swiss Dots folder.  The image is Preggo Honey from Sassy Studio Designs.  I colored her in with colored pencils and added glitter details around her eyes and the dress with a purple glitter pen.
The card opens in the middle with the frame and image attached to the left side.
I used a sweet sentiment from Create with TLC.  I thought it was fitting for a baby card.

Not a lot of details with this card.  Guess I exhausted all my elaborate detailing last week...I'll have to try and find that again...

I Do!!..

...totally love this card!!
Happy Friday (woohooo!!) to everyone!
Can you believer it?  I think this is a record for me!  A new post every day this week!  Don't get used to it...I can't guarantee it will continue...I've just had a very wonderfully productive week!  Feels good.  Devoting my time to my work.  A work that I Love!  I can see the progression I am making, even just in the cards from this week.  Thinking I'm getting better is one thing...but to see it is even more motivating and encouraging! (Could just be me :) )

Ok back to the card.  While on vacation a few weeks ago (the good one...not the sad one...) I went to a bunch of yard sales and at one of them I picked up a pack of glitter.  Finally got to use it today!  And I think I will be brushing glitter of my table/projects and pulling it out of my hair for quite awhile now :)  But I love the stuff!
This card went together pretty quick even with all the details I put into it.  I used the sketch at Try Stampin on Tuesdays.  I tried doing a different themed card with that sketch Wednesday and it just totally did not work!  The embossed piece in the back was from that first attempt.  So when "wedding" came up as my theme for today, I gave it another shot.  I ended up double embossing that mount with clear embossing powder to help it tie in with the little frame in the middle.  That frame is cut from the Cricut Tie the Knot cartridge.  I stamped a little swirl pattern all over it and then clear embossed it.  With both of them clear embossed, the shine on both of them went so well together.
Here's a pic without any of the details so you can better see what I mean:
I used my heart border punch on the blue.  The patterned paper is a double sided sheet that I picked up at the same yard sale as the glitter...I really scored there!  Nothing beats cheap craft supplies :)

The sentiment "I Do" is also cut from Tie the Knot.  I cut the top layer twice and the shadow layer once, glued them all together, covered the top with glitter and then mounted them with dimensional tape to the frame.
The flowers were so much fun to make...though probably what caused most of my glitter explosion.  They are cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I tried 2 different ways at glittering them.  The big one I glittered before I rolled it.  It worked but I rubbed a lot of the glitter off while getting it rolled and flattened.  So the smaller two I rolled and then glittered....probably just as much work as the first one...but I didn't lose as much glitter...all though because I wasn't wiping it all off it's kind of excessive on the flowers instead of being a dusting of glitter...so not sure which way I like best...
They still look awesome though :)

I added a pearl bead to each of the centers and then some pearls in the punched border for added bling.  I think to top pearls are a little too big, but I didn't have anything smaller and I didn't want to use gems.
Pretty fabulous huh?
By far my favorite card this week.
Hopefully I can keep this upward trip going :)

You Are So Sweet

Hello and happy Thursday!
I just noticed today that I have a lot more followers!  Welcome to you all!!!

Today's card...I am just in love with :)
I love the soft blue tone of the papers...and all my handmade flowers...and my first handmade pin!  For me, this is an elaborate card!  I know...there are much more elaborate and more beautiful cards out there that people have made...but I'm working my way up there.  I love all the Wild Orchid flowers that everyone uses on their cards, but financially I can't afford to continuously purchase those...so I have to make all of my flowers.  So the quantity of them on my cards stays minimum...cuz that's a lot of work :)
I keep telling myself to make a bunch up in advance so I have them...but I like to construct a card all at once and that usually includes the flowers...someday I will learn :)

The sweet image and sentiment are from the Sweet Love Set from Pollycraft Digital Stamps.  I colored it all in with my colored pencils.  I didn't realize when planning out this card that the image was square...thought it was rectangle...so I had to adjust a few things, but it all worked out :)
I might go back and add some more glitter to the flowers and around the image...I love it the way it is though so maybe not :)

Be Yourself

Welcome to my blog on this lovely Wednesday!
I was a bit worried it would be miserable here today...it rained yesterday which is wonderful...but then it brings the humidity...which is awful!  But so far it feels nice and cool!  The humidity can stay away for a few more months :)

Sharing a pretty simple card with you today.  With our recent visit to MI, I was able to rummage through the many boxes we have in storage and pull out a bunch of my bead materials, including wire.  I was excited to try adding it to my cards...haven't done that yet but I see it often and love how it looks.
I didn't go too crazy with the wire on my first try, but I think it looks awesome tucked into the black roses.
The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I used the image at the Pinspirational challenge this week.  It's such a crazy photo, or bold dress style and it reminds me to be myself.  No matter what style that is.  So when I saw this sentiment in my stash, it fit perfectly.

I cut the frame and the spiral roses with my cricut.  I added some clear glitter to the roses, though up close it's a lot grainier than I was thinking it would be...maybe I should have left the glitter off...but I wanted sparkle :)
Then I used my coiling gizmo to spiral some orange wire and tucked it in between the roses.  That was a trip!  How do you get wire glued down??  I suppose I could have used my glue gun...but that was more work than I wanted to do right then...so I flattened one end of the coil, globed some glue on a piece of paper and stuck it down...that worked :)  The glue I have pretty much rocks for gluing anything down :)
I'll try the glue gun next time :)

Springtime

Another Saturated Canary card to share with you today :)
What can I say...I love them!
This darling image is Springtime.  I just picked her up this week!
I'm still playing around and learning how to make different flowers, and the most recent one I've been practicing is gerbera daisys.  Since the background paper has daisy flowers on it I figured it would work perfect to make some gerbera's and arrange them around the image.  Instead of cutting them with my cricut though, I used some daisy punches since they were just about the right size.  Layered them all up and added a brown brad to the centers...probably wasn't the best color choice for the center...but I think it helps the flowers stand out a little more...
The inside is very simple with just a small sentiment from Create with TLC.

Nothing is Impossible

Happy Monday to everyone!
It has been a rough couple of weeks here for us... a few weekends ago we were able to head back home to MI to celebrate our niece's second birthday!  It was wonderful and we cherish every moment we get to spend with her!  But as we were leaving to head back to Montreal, we got some troubling news about our grandpa...and a week later we were rushing back to MI to be with our family.  Even though the reason for us being home was heartbreaking, it was a nice visit being able to see so many loved ones and sharing so many wonderful stories and memories of what a wonderful man grandpa was.  He will be so terribly missed...

After all that last week, it has been a little tough getting back into the groove of my work, but I pushed forward today.
The adorable image I used is "Boobie Love" from Saturated Canary.  I can't seem to get enough of Krista's images!  With her new shop opening up, I have spent way too much time just browsing through the images...longing to buy them all!  But financially I can't...so I have to restrain myself...and fulfill my temptation with just 1 or 2...or 3 :)

I colored Miss Love in with my colored pencils and added some glitter to the rose and shirt.  I followed the Sweet Sunday sketch for this card.  There were several other elements I wanted to add, but as I put it all together, less seemed to speak louder than more.
The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I love every sentiment that she comes up with and I'm so thankful for all the time she puts into creating them!
I cut out a bunch of 5 petal flowers to make into buttons and then covered them with glitter.  Two of the flags and the background of the frame are embossed with my Swiss Dots folder.  The frame is cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.

Bad Habits and Great Cards

Hello friends!  Happy Thursday to you all!  I hope everyone is well...even on this wet and gloomy day here in Montreal...

I've been busy getting some work done since we got back from our small (but much needed) vacation.  It seems I have developed a bad habit of making a card, putting it aside to post later, and then forgetting about it...
So this post will contain 3 cards!  I can't believe I've been doing that!  I noticed my little pile of cards was getting kind of high today and then realized what was happening...I'll have to nip that one in the butt rather quickly!

With Mother's Day this weekend, I was inspired to make one more card.  I wanted to make one for the expecting or new Mother's since this is a special day for them.
I used the adorable Ice Cream and Pickles image from Saturated Canary.  Such a sweet image.  I wanted soft neutral colors for the card so I went with a peach tone.  She is colored in with colored pencils.  The frame is cut from my Lacy Labels cartridge.
Then I cut out some spiral roses and added some peach glitter to the tips.  I think I'm getting pretty good at those things.  I've learned to let them loosen or "bloom" once I've quilled them up so they look more open and fuller...the first few I made were quilled so tight they just looked like a blob of paper...lol!
I typed up and printed out the sentiments on my computer.  Then added some white paint dots in the corner and around the frame and covered those with the peach glitter.  There is also some glitter in her hair...just enough so she has a little glow.
The inside is very simple with the Mother's Day sentiment.
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #158
    Saturated Canary #17-May Flowers
    The Paper Variety-May Flowers
Through the Craftroom Door #25-Happy Mother's Day
    Critter Sketch #114-Mom

Love to Create #14-For Mom/Special Lady
    Paper Makeup #35-May Flowers

    Celebrate the Occasion #62-Mother's Day
    The Cuttlebug Spot-Flowers for Mom
    Tuesday Throwdown #97-Motherly Love
    Simon Says-Sweet Tooth

My next card is for Father's Day.
I was attempting to follow the sketch at Mojo Monday and it sort of worked out, but the subway art (found at A Proffittable Life and available in a few different colors) ended up being so much bigger than I expected it to be that it left little room for the other elements.  But I had to use that image.  It fit so perfectly...especially for my dad.  How many times have you heard all of those quotes?  They are forever embedded in my brain!
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Mojo Monday #240
    Paper Pretties-Use Ribbon
    Crafts for Eternity #70-Maypole Ribbons

This last card was so much fun creating!  I got the inspiration from a couple of cards I saw using the Taylored Expressions Green Acres stamp set.
One of our cousins is graduating high school this year.  Makes me feel old...he was our ring bearer in our wedding!  And now he's graduating!! Ugh...but he loves farming and plans to make that his life...so when I saw the Green Acres stamp set, it sparked some ideas.  I cut out the tractor from the My World cartridge and then cut some hay with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, inked the edges with a golden yellow ink pad and layered them around the tractor.  It turned out so cute!  And it makes me smile :)
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Tuesday Morning Sketches #145
Divas by Design #34-One for the Boys
My Craft Spot #55-Down on the Farm

Did you make it this far?  Congrats if you did!  This was a big post!  Now hopefully I will stay on top of my creations and postings...not be lazy :)

So Beautiful!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Busy week here.  We are getting ready for a short weekend trip to Michigan so crafting has been minimal for me, but since Mother's Day is coming up soon, I figured I could make my needed cards and bring them along.  And since these cards don't need to be mailed, there is no holding back on dimension and details!

Oh boy!  I keep looking at this card wondering if I really made it!  I just can't get over how beautiful it turned out!  Everything meshes so well together, there are so many details...it's all just so perfect!
Ok...I'll show you :)
What a stunner!!!  Like I said...can't believe I made this!
I've longed to do large dimensional flowers on my cards but because they don't mail very well...I've  avoided them for the most part.  But these flowers were so fun to put together!  I used my cricut to cut them all out from the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge.  I inked up all the edges with purple, used an embossing tool to round up the edges and then staggered all the layers.  The centers are all spiral roses.  I had different plans for those, but when I tested what they would look like in the center of the large flowers...done deal :)

I made a bunch of my own quilled up white roses to use as fillers in the arrangements.  Used some punches for the foliage behind everything.  The center is cut out of the card with my circle cutter.  I cut a frame from the Lacy Labels cartridge to decorate the opening so it wasn't so boring.
I cut out 2 large butterflies from the butterfly font, added glitter to the wings and purple pearls to the centers.  Then cut out a bunch of little butterflies to scatter around the card, adding small purple paint dots to their centers as well.
The finishing touches I added to wrap up this card were glitter to all the flowers so they sparkled.  Just wouldn't be complete without glitter :)  I added a white flourish and then added white paint dot spirals in the corners for added detail.
The Mother's Day sentiment is a digital stamp I forgot I had in my stash, and the swirlyness of it seemed perfect for this card!
